La Muixeranga
 
 
Nearly three centuries of history and an important symbolic, they have made Algemesí Muixeranga of the best known of the city image. ceremonial group, dance or music, Muixeranga, in each of its three meanings (dance, towers and plastic figures), is a clear reflection of the strength of a people committed to its festive tradition and cultural heritage.
 
HISTORY
 
The first documentary reference Muixeranga Algemesí comes from 1733, the Books of Accounts of the Villa. Since then, his appearance at the party Mare de Deu de la Salut, and solemnly held since 1724, is maintained continuously. As critical period is remembered 1973, when, in the midst of a profound crisis of participation, was about to disappear. The foundation, a year later, the association Amics Muixeranga not only guaranteed their survival, but relaunched dramatically.
 
Nova Muixeranga: The 1998 joins the Fiesta la Nova Muixeranga, presented as a novelty group its mixed composition (men and women).
Among those who have made history are outstanding teachers Enric Francisco Gil "Cabrera" (1920s); Llorca "The Barber", Vicent "Gleva" and Vicent NACHER (between 1940-1970); and Pla i Tomàs Romaguera, worker master of the villa. The current master dancing Muixeranga Algemesí is Joan Beltràn, while in Nova Muixeranga is Esther Ferrer.
 
DANCE

Plastic figures: They are formations that have originally a symbolic-religious  (scenes related to the figure of the Mare de Deu) intentionality. Lately, motivated by the gymnastic ability and the search for new compositions, they have joined other profane type.
 
MUSIC
 
Interpreted by dolçaina board has two basic tunes: Muixeranga and floret. The first, accompanies the lifting of the towers; the second, dancing. A third, very specific, on the composition of Gregorian chant Dies irae -day of the anger is sounded in the construction of the figure of Burial. Solemn, cadenced, the sound of the Muixeranga has extended its symbolic meaning beyond Algemesí, becoming cultural heritage of all Valencians.
 
DRESS
 
It consists of blouse buttoned tight and straight ahead, long pants, long-eared bonnet and thin-soled shoes. The fabric is coarse and strong, a (green in Nova Muixeranga) red and blue vertical strips on white background stripes with arlequinada available, except the master suit that takes each piece of color. It is commonly known as fabric mattress.
